Cathy Hummels became a Cirque du Soleil artist for a day!
Imagine becoming a part of the fascinating world of Cirque du Soleil for a day... for TV presenter and entrepreneur Cathy Hummels, this dream became reality, when she got to have an exclusive look behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil ALIZÉ as a celebrity guest artist... and ultimately found herself on stage.
As the first permanent European Cirque du Soleil show, ALIZÉ captivates audiences exclusively at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin with a spectacular combination of world-class acrobatics and magic. As a huge Cirque du Soleil fan, Cathy didn't just want to watch — she wanted to experience firsthand what the artists perform on stage every night.
Together with star acrobat Andre Augustus, Cathy took on a range of artistic challenges: from fan artistry to aerial acrobatics in the spectacular Cocoon, to juggling and Banquine acrobatics — a fitness and headstand challenge was also on the list. Only when it came to the legendary Trampowall in the Hall of Mirrors did she decide, after a brief moment of queasiness, to leave it to the professionals and watch instead, with great respect for their skill.
After these intense training moments, it was finally showtime: Cathy slipped into an original costume, was brought on stage by Andre, and performed a spectacular lift with the ALIZÉ artists during the finale. The applause that followed, along with the shared moment with the cast and crew, made for a magical and unforgettable experience for Cathy.
Cathy Hummels, TV presenter and entrepreneur: "I had goosebumps all day. You watch the artists on stage and think: wow, that looks so effortless. But trying it out myself and seeing what's really behind it was incredibly impressive. It takes so much training, body control, and above all, mutual trust. Being part of this magical world of Cirque du Soleil ALIZÉ for a brief moment and soaring across the stage was an experience I won't forget anytime soon."
